Programmatic Migration

"Programmatic Migration" is where a series of programs are written to extract data from the old billing system and import the data into the BillMax billing system. Please note that not everything may be migrated from the old billing system into BillMax and not all steps may be programmatic. Some may be manual.

Prerequisites

  1. BillMax be installed.

  2. BillMax be configured.

  3. Knowledge of the following:

    1. The database schema of the old billing system.

    2. How the data elements in the old billing system will map to the fields in the BillMax database.

    3. How the data elements from the old billing system will be extracted.

    4. How the data extracted from the old billing system needs to be modified (if at all) before importing into BillMax.

    5. How the (modified) data from the old billing system will be imported into BillMax.

  4. The following be decided:

    1. Which financial method will be used: "Beginning Balance Method" or "Historical Transaction Method".

    2. Will the Accounts be associated with different Virtual Companys.

    3. Will all Accounts be migrated at the same time, or will migration be done in a staggered fashion.
