Chapter 2. Interface Overview

Upon successful login, the following is displayed:

Clicking on the BillMax image brings up the initial BillMax display (the splash page).

Clicking on the BillMax icon will open a new browser window for the Staff Interface at the splash page.

BillMax offers a search utility to search for Accounts, Users or Services in the database. The data supplied should agree with what is being searched. For example, don't specify a name when searching on Account number. The result of a search is a list of entries that match the search criterion.

Clicking on the Account link will bring up the Account page.

Enter the search argument here. String searches match any entries that contain the string supplied. The search argument may include "%" as a wild card indicator. Use it when a search for more than one substring is desired, .i.e "string1%string2". Pressing the Enter key on the keyboard causes the search to be executed.

The version of BillMax installed. Refer to this number when requesting support from BillMax.

Click here to logout the Authorized BillMax User. The following is displayed:

It is possible to be have access to the Staff Interface be denied due to a lack of activity. This may be set by the BillMax system administrator. If the occurs, the following is displayed after trying to use BillMax when the inactivity period has been exceeded:

In addition, it is possible to have access to the Staff Interface be denied due to the fact that someone else has logged in using the same username and password. BillMax, by design, allows only one web browser session to access BillMax. As an example, when using a browser, as many windows or tabs associated with the browser may be used to access BillMax. However, if another browser is used to access BillMax, the original browser will display the following:

If, when using a browser, one accesses non-BillMax URL's and then browses back to the original BillMax URL, the login page will briefly be displayed followed by the splash page. This is normal behavior and is not cause for alarm.

The "Navigation Bar" is a series of links used to access the major subsystems of BillMax. In general, on each page there are two other navigation aids. These are:

When using BillMax, it is recommended that the browser "BACK" be used as little as possible. This is due to the fact that if saving a record and then using the back button, the data saved may not be that which is displayed.
